About Michal

I’m Michal Mokry, a bonsai potter living in the Netherlands. I work mostly with glazed pots, drawing inspiration from traditional forms but keeping the designs clean and simple so they support the tree rather than compete with it.

I grew up in Slovakia and discovered bonsai after moving to the Netherlands. Over time, working with trees led me naturally to working with clay. My daytime job is in biomedical research, and pottery became a calm, hands-on counterbalance to that work.

I experiment with different methods - kurinuki for small pieces, slab building, and 3D-printed molds for more precise shapes. Glazing is the part I enjoy most, and I often try new materials and blends to create surfaces that feel alive yet understated

My goal is simply to create pots that feel honest, functional, and in harmony with the trees they will eventually hold.
